I envy you and the rest of you. In Israel it depends a lot on your trainer since you have to get a “letter for the doctor” to be enrolled in any fitness program. My trainer is very conventional, and insists on the same routine until . . . I get to my weight.
Other than that, rest days are exactly that, nothing. He figures that I am not 18, and will never be, so . . . I end up cheating, doing stuff at home and taking long walks in my town which is on a hillside, which makes for a certain level of resistance.
Were I to use some the equipment that wasn’t on the routine, I’d hear it from the trainer and it would be out the door. Okay, the gym is a short walk away, and it includes a sauna, jacazi, and the hotel pool. Sometimes I wonder if all that is worth it, when there is a much “more basic” place, down the hill some, that costs less, but . . .
I will try to improvise, at least, while the trainer is “not lookin’.

Excellent…..Darin could have easily edited parts of this video such as saying triceps when he meant biceps, but I like the fact he keeps it real and cracks on with a proper intense excercise whilst instructing the viewer. Can barely speak at the end without shame…….great!
I have lost 6 pounds of body fat in about 7 weeks on the progra which is great……..not ganed as much muscle as I’d like to though : (

I’m still not quite clear on the bicep exercise. Is it like sitting in a chair and lifting dumbells?

That is a great squat–I think I could call it a leg stretch and my trainer won’t know the difference. It’ s similar to what I saw elsewhere, though that exercise required playing with the equipment at the gym. Bein’ who he is the trainer might get suspicious, but sittin’ down and gettin’ up slowly, calling it a “leg stretch” might be within the range of exercise that would pass.
Heck, you can sit on a chair and get up, and down, slowly and it doesn’t affect the knees. In fact, it might strengthen, and perhaps, I hope built up some of the cartilage that has slipped away.
First I’ll try it home three sets of ten without weights, and then when the trainer is not lookin’ do the “stretch”, as it were.
Again thank you for the tip.
Zev
