Two Things:
#1 I met and talked to legendary coach Lou Holtz. He is coming out of retirement to coach the Notre Dame Alumni football team in the “Japan Bowl”.
#2 My client Kurt Belisle graduated from Notre Dame 8 years ago and asked me to help him get ready for the Alumni Team.

Over the week-end I had the pleasure of meeting and brainstorming with legendary Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz. He has an amazing win loss record and he is the only coach in the history of college football to have taken 6 different teams to bowl games.
He is geting inducted into the College Football Coaches Hall of fame this month. He is coming out of retirement to coach the Notre Dame Alumni Team against the Japanese Professionals. Coach Holtz is a highly saught after motivational speaker. I have heard some of his speaches in the past.
When I pinned him down last week end at Kurt’s try out I had to ask him about what I had heard about him in the past. What I had heard was that when he got his first coaching job at around the age of 24 his wife had just gave birth to their first child. He just got his family moved to the new city where he was going to start his coaching career. The head coach lost his job and so did Coach Holtz.
Coach Holtz had no money, now job and a new family. This was the pivitol point in his life. He could have went forward or backward. Through the motivational books and tapes he was absorbing at the time, he decided to dig his heels in, make the best of it, and right down his goals on a card. He stuck the card in his pocket. Every day he would pull the card out, read the goals out loud (with a positive tone in his voice), and visualize the goal as if he had already accomplished it.
There were 95 goals written on that card. Within 20 years, every goal had been achieved. I was so excited to talk to Coach Holtz to ask him if the story was folklore or truth. He told me that it was the truth. And he told me that I could accomplish anything that my mind could conceive.
Coach Holtz’s goal setting exercises are very similar to the ones that I use and that I have my clients use. Lets wish coach Holtz and the Notre Dame Alumni Team luck in their quest this Summer.

I brought Kurt Belisle back into my life by harnessing “The Law of Attraction”. He grew up in the house
next to mine. I did not really notice him, cause he was 11 years younger than me. He noticed me though.
He watched my 14 year football career; and watched me come home from many work-outs pumped up and
full of youth, athleticism, and energy. I do not even remember the day that Kurt just recently told me
changed his life forever. I went back to my local grade school and showed the 6th and 7th graders how to
use the weight equipment. Kurt was in that class and the very next day he bugged the P.E. teacher and got a
key to the weightroom so he could go there after school. Kurt duplicated the exercises I had shown him the
day before. Kurt not only followed my lead on working out and playing middle linebacker, but he blew what
I did out of the “frickin” water. Kurt played football with the best players in the world and graduated from
one of the most prestigous schools in the world with a top notch degree. That just goes to show you how
you never know how one little act of giving could mean a lot in someones life.
Now flash forward 21 years. I track Kurt down after not talking to him for 19 years. He told me that he was
thinkin about trying out for the ND Alumni football team. He asked me if I could help him get in the best
shape of his life. What do you think I said? Within one work-out we alread had Kurt visualizing coach Holtz
shaking his hand at the end of the game and saying with his patented slurr, “Congratutalions son, you
deserved the defensive MVP (most valuable player) of the “Japan Bowl”. Now that it is official, Kurt did make
the team after last weeks try out; we are only half way to his goal. If I were a betting man, I would put my
money on Kurt playing the best game of his life, and coming home with an MVP trophy.
Side Note; After training with me for the last 8 weeks in preparation for this try out; Kurt has lost over 3
inches off his waist line, gained a ton of muscle and quickness and agility. He very well might be in better
shape then when he peaked his athleticism his sophmore year back some 12 years ago. You can see his
before and after pictures at www.BestPersonalTrainerOnEarth.com
In fact; Kurt not only placed in the top 3 in all six time drills at the try out; from my perspective he out
performed Mike Goolsby; who graduated from ND only 3 years ago. Mike was captain of the team and
at middle linebacker for the Irish. How fun it was to see the look on all of Kurts team mates when they saw
him in peak condition.
I believe that life is about a lot of things. But one that is very important is; loving and giving to others.
I am in the profession of motivating others to live their best life; it warms my heart to be some small part of
helping clients like Kurt. You see, Kurt is now able to cause a more positive “Ripple Effect” in others lives
because his story is stronger now. You see, Kurt coaches high school athletes. And now he has more of a
story to motivate and inspire his players, his family, and even strangers. I will keep you in tune with his
progress. I think he is going to get his goal.

Pro football in Japan is bigger than we realize here in the US. The quality of play is better than most Division I football programs. The ND Alumni Team is going to be in for a battle. While I was at Kurts try out on the beautiful campus is South Bend I had a chance to meet and talk to the #1 linebacker in Japan. His name is Shinzo Yamada. Since I hold the All-Time Career Tackling record for Olivet Nazarene University (where the Chicago Bears hold their training camp) we had a lot in common and compared notes.
My lasting message to you is; No matter how old, or what kind of shape that you are in; You can get in great shape in a short amount of time. ANYONE & EVERYONE DOES HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE!! We do have the ability to live long & strong to 110 years old. And one thing I have learned is that anything that you believe with a deep sense of certainty deep down in your core will become true for you. Please let me know how I am doing and leave comments below. God Bless!!
